Inspiration existing takeaway designs
Before starting to sketch our the takeaway packaging that I would like to produce for the chosen cuisine. The overall chosen cuisine that I will be designing a packaging for is 'Chinese food'. I believe this would be a good experiment process to commence with as most Chinese takeaway do not do much sustainable packaging for their food. Or simple people do not know how to recycle the type of packaging from a Chinese cuisine. 

It is also fortunate that my aunty also knowns a Chinese takeaway shop that I could potential take pictures of my packaging in that kind of environment. Plus the most challenging aspect of this brief is thinking of what kind of materials I can use to make the food clean and hygienic for the consumers to eat out of. 

Chinese food, is quite a challenging food to balance with packaging design. As majority of the food is either super oily or greasy. It would be a good idea to make a packaging that stops greasy from seeping out of the takeaway materials. 

Therefore, I have looked into some packaging designs that mostly absorb the grease. Below are some examples I will help me guide me not only on the design, but the construction and materials: 

Burger Gourmet Kitchen

Their takeaway packaging is very nice in design and material. Mostly all the packaging is mostly made out of paper material. For the burger it is more thicker card board, which keeps the burger in contact/hold its structure. What I really like is when it is open, all the sides fold open out. 

However, this kind of packaging is not good as out cannot be reused for other food purposive. 




Stick 'n' Sushi

 

Within Stick 'n' Sushi' packaging design, I really like the design and the colour scheme they have used. The way that the sushi boxes are stacked up is very interesting layout. However, again this kind of packaging is not as suitable. It has that problem of not a secondary use of for other foods. 

General Chinese takeaway packaging

For the Chinese takeaway, I found this packaging online. The design of this certain packaging is very interesting from its why of structure and construction. 

I really like the dividers within the packaging as the user can have a choice to eat what they desire. 

With the construction of the packaging, it uses string to attach and hold together the different takeaway boxes together. 

The shape of the packaging is really unique and it is a great shape to work with multiple dividers as shown above. 

I would like to incorporate the dividers can of idea to my version of takeaway packaging. But the way it is used to carry for transportation isn't suitable to strong enough. 

I would like to come up or find a better yet appropriate handle that would be good to use as reusable.

From this inspiration research I can start planning how and what packaging templates I would like to experiment with. Most of the inspire packaging that I have done research with mainly use paper materials. These paper materials are ablate withstand oil and greasy substances, as most takeaway food contain a lot of oily foods. I believe I will research some plastics which can with stand heat and food hygiene. With the plastic material, it will be able to withstand damage plus will be more durable when the packaging will have a second use for the second owner.
