OUGD502 | Personal and Professional Practice 2 | Overall Module Evaluation

OUGD502 Personal and Professional Practice 2 Overall Evaluation
In conclusion of the OUGD502 Personal and Professional Practice 2 module. I found this module one of the most challenging and hardest, this is due to not only the types of briefs that were given but also personal reasons.

Most of the briefs within this particular module involved a lot of communication and interaction to the outside of the art industry. This mostly scared me as I am not the type of person to speak out to professionals first. This module definitely made me come out of my comfort zone and become more confident with myself as ask if it was okay for me to interview them. Lucky all three of my professionals that I wanted to interview said yes they would be able to. I am very happy that I did come out of my comfort zone and emailed them as its not as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be. Plus in the future I will know how to contact other professionals when I need to for other future briefs. It is also very interesting to read their answers of the interview questions, it allowed me to see how they became in their positions that they are currently in and how they are doing now. It is also quite inspirational on how well they have done in their journey. From their personal websites which include their work I can understand were all the hard work has come from and how passionate they are about how with their career choices.

For all the creative reports I liked the concept that I created for them. For example I followed all of the professionals companies logo design to make their creative report represent them. Majority of the all the colours had the same colour such as black and white yet there was a third colour that was different. The advertising firm was red, the illustration professional was green and the Graphics design firm had none so I added a light blue colour. The concept was them to be a set of book but each had a different art background - advertising, illustration and graphic design. I am very fond of the book covers of each of the creative reports, however I believe it would of been better of they were printed professionally. I would of printed these creative reports professionally but unfortunately the quality of the artwork that I collect on each of their websites were not a good resolution. I know this because of printing out mock ups of my creative reports pages, the images were very pixelated and unclear. They would turn out the same if I printed them out professionally.

I think I could of done a better job when laying out and organising the text with the images as all creative reports had to much familiarity. I do struggle with editorial design I find it quite challenging when laying out a page equally. I believe I need to explore and experiment with new grid layouts instead of using the same one over and over again.

For the personal reasoning that I found this specific module difficult was that I fractured my ankle which made me slow down on this module. This module deliverables was to look into exhibitions and galleries and explore what things interested you and inspire you on what work that can support you. Unfortunately I wasn't mobile enough to do this, I was greatly disappointed that I was not able to go on the Berlin trip which would allow me to explore lots of artwork. What I can do better is visit more places, like exhibitions and talks and so on.
