In todays PPP session, Penny wanted us to find out some events that students could go to during the month, November. Following on our previous lesson about 10 things that inspire us, we had to explore events that could be inspirational for other students to go to. Within our small groups we researched and discovered some November events happening locally, internationally and online.
1) Leeds International Film Festival
Is a festival located in Leeds, an easy local destination for students living or travelling The Leeds International Film Festival is the biggest film festival in England. It was discovered in 1987, and at November time they hold various venues throughout Leeds. This is a fantastic way for students to discover and experience a variety of films across the whole world. This could expand their knowledge of different culture backgrounds and the way they view things. It's destination point is perfect if you live in Leeds or leave near it, overall it would be a good place to experience with friends and families, it is on the 5th to the 19th of November. 2) Day of the Dead
The Day of the Dead is a Mexican Festival celebrating Life, a tradition which commemorates many of their ancestors who have preceded them. There have been many Day of the Dead themed weddings which are very famous as it embraces the Latinos and non Latinos for their special day. Also the way that they use makeup to represent this celebration is fascinating, as they apply a combination of the darkness and colours to create a vibrant but sinister looking skulls. Thus emphasising a Beautiful Death. There is also a lot of music and dances to this celebration, this demonstrates how fun the change of a brand new culture experience it will be. 3) Bonfire Night
"Remember, Remember the 5th of November" is a chant that has been repeated many years on during the month November, especially in Great Britain. This is also known as, Bonfire Night an event or tradition that celebrates the failure of Guy Fawkes' actions on the 5th of November. Bonfire Night is an amazing experience to celebrate with friends and families, as you can set up fireworks to the sky to admire the different explosions of colours in the night sky or go to an event which you can watch.
4) Movember
Movember is a great opportunity to have an excuse to grow a moustache for some guys. Movember is an event celebrated in England at November, as it raises funds and awareness for men's health and charity. This events starts as soon as you shave on the November the 1st, you let your facial hair grow and groom. Until 30 days without shaving, it will becomes an amazing moustache, by this you could help men live happier, healthier and live longer.
