End of Module Self Evaluation

Overall, during this module I have been quite efficient and organised when doing PPP studio briefs (Reflective Practice, Self branding and presentation) as well as the study tasks. I believe didn't do as well  in this module as I had no idea on how I was supposed to brand my identity and I didn't really have an idea on what my interests was either more compared to my previous one. During Self branding brief there were some difficulties as I had trouble on how to present myself without using the typical business card and so on. Designing the logos for my self branding was enjoyable to do, I enjoyed recreating the different ways and styles that presented me as an individual as it had a simple yet mature and sophisticated look. Compare to it my previous work in the pass GCSE and A-levels were all quite childish and playful for a young children's imagination.  I also wanted it to be quite clear, simple and minimalistic with my identity as I know I have more time to develop more on this in the later future. But in conclusion once I had a concept and theme for my self branding it when quite well.

Next reflective practice was quite challenging for me as I had no idea what I was inspire by this is why there is not a lot of visits to studios, exhibitions and galleries. However, I did do a lot of experimental and inductions which help me evolve in my practical side of graphic design. I found this both interesting and fascinating. Hopefully I'll get to do more in the later future.

Finally, the presentation which had to be done verbally and visually was successful. Tutor and peers gave me lots of good comments and feedback. Like my presentation was very engaging especially with images and my tone of voice was very friendly but honest. I didn't sound nervous during my speech as I mention I get very shy and scared when presenting in front of people and they said I sounded quite confident.

Studio Brief 03 - Design Strategy Presentation Feedback and comments

After presenting my presentation, my Peers and tutor gave me some feedback, comments and advice on it.

  • They informed me that even though I was shy, quiet, scared and nervous when presenting in front of others. It didn't seem that way and I actual sounded very professionally and confidently.
  • My presentation was very organised, visual and engaging.
  • My tone of voice was appropriate as it showed how honest and friendly I was as an individual.
  • My verbal speaking was very good, very clear and straight forward.
  • However, I cannot say that I 'Dislike' somethings in the course as its a learning experience.
  • Need to decide what I really want to branch to in the further future and set it (branding, advertising and packaging).
  • Need to visit studios and exhibitions that are at interest for me.
  • More work experience with other Graphic Designers.
  • Produce more work in University like GCSE and A-Level as it was very eye catching and engaging. As I was passionate about them within the presentation.

Screenprinting Induction

In this screenprinting induction we got shown how to make a screen and how to apply the ink on to our paper. To make a screen we have to look and see if there is a clean and free one to use. We then have to put some emulsion on the screen so when in the molten machine will make the shape that we desire. The image that we have chosen has to be in black and white because when we put the screen into the printing stage the black bits will only get printed.

One we have transfer the shape onto the emulsion bit, we have to take the edges so the colour will not got out of it. Then we place or screen onto this machine which also holds in place not only the screen but the paper when we apply the ink colour.

Overall, again I had experience of doing this process in A-level, but it was good learn about it again.

Ceramics Induction

In this induction my peers organised this as they wanted to learn how to do ceramics, which also interested me to. We learned how to roll and shape clays in different ways and use different types of colour clays too. Here are some images below to show this process.
